Based on your medical history, the state of your oral health, and your goals for the future, Dr. Giamberardino can put together a plan that’s made just for you. Inflammation and Heart Health

February 22, 2012

For some patients, it might come as a surprise that heart health and oral health are connected. But as we mentioned in our last post, your oral and overall health are deeply connected. And with February being so well known for Valentine’s Day, we thought now would be a good time to reiterate that connection.

Gum disease starts with bacteria and plaque building up around the teeth and gums, causing your soft tissue to become irritate and inflamed. As this inflammation and irritation continue, pockets can develop in the gum tissue. These pockets give bacteria and plaque access to the heart via the bloodstream.

Once in the heart, further irritation will cause protective plaque to build up around the arterial walls, eventually blocking the flow of blood. It’s this lack of blood flow that could someday trigger a heart attack. All of which is why regular visits to Dr. Giamberardino’s Medford dental office are essential.

Protect Your Overall Health by Making Your Oral Health a Priority

January 19, 2012

On their own, most patients aren’t likely to imagine that their oral and overall health are connected. The reality, however, is there is much more overlap between them than most may realize.

Specifically, what connect these two separate spheres are bacteria and gum disease. When gum disease isn’t treated, pockets can form between a patient’s teeth and gums. These pockets give bacteria an entrance to the body’s bloodstream and, subsequently, the rest of the body, potentially contributing to a variety of health problems that includes: (more…)

Restore Your Smile with a New Crown or Bridge from Giamberardino Dental Care

October 11, 2011

When people see a confident smile, they associate what they see with certain qualities like success, happiness, and attractiveness. If your smile has a missing or damaged tooth, it may also be missing those qualities that can be striking to others. But with a crown or bridge from Dr. Giamberardino’s Medford dental office, we can help you replace what your smile’s been missing.

What Is A Crown & Bridge?

It’s actually a device made up of two crowns and, between them, your replacement tooth or teeth, if more than one is missing. When Dr. Giamberardino places your crown and bridge, your crowns will fit over your existing teeth, with your brand new tooth filling the gap in your smile like a puzzle piece. This is also known as a fixed bridge.

For patients who want a restoration that functions exactly like a natural tooth, Giamberardino Dental Care also offers implant-retained bridges. Not everyone is a candidate for dental implants, but for patients who are, an implant-retained bridge can bring return natural functionality to your bite.

In most cases, though, regardless of which type of bridge you’ll be receiving, Dr. Giamberardino can give patients an all-ceramic bridge. With an all-ceramic bridge you can have a replacement that looks as natural as a natural tooth.

Want to find out more about restoring your smile with a bridge? Give us a call today. Our Medford office is perfectly located to serve patients from Winchester, Somerville, Malden, Everett, and surrounding areas.
