Digital Dentistry: Schick 33
The new Schick 33 digital radiography system has revolutionized the dental industry. The Schick 33 intraoral digital sensor provides unprecedented clarity and detail which helps your dentist in the diagnoses and treatment of cavities, gum disease and other oral health problems. This new digital dentistry tool features amazing diagnostic quality images that can be customized to fit your individual diagnostic needs like general, endodontic, restorative or periodontics. The dentist can use the image enhancer to manipulate image sharpness for a comprehensive oral examination.

Digital Dentistry: CEREC Crowns

Digital dentistry isn’t just for diagnosing your care; it can also make restorative treatment faster and more efficient. If you have ever had a tooth crowned in the past, you know that the process took two visits. Back then your dentist had to take a mold impression of your teeth, send it to a lab to be fabricated, and then it was placed at a second visit. Today, with the CEREC Crown system, your dentist can craft your custom crown right in the office during your visit. A digital impression of your tooth is taken, which the dentist uses to design, mold and place your new crown, in a fraction of the time it used to take.

Tackle Your Halitosis Today!

September 24, 2014

493881585One thing that everyone can agree on is that having bad breath is never attractive. When you are introducing yourself to someone new or reconnecting with old friends and family, you want to be able to enjoy their company instead of worrying how your breath smells. Bad breath, also known as halitosis, has the potential to deteriorate the way you feel about yourself, and can definitely affect the way you interact with others. Dr. Anthony Giamberardino wants his patients to know of the ways they can handle their halitosis by giving a small bit of information and advice.

Simple enough, one of the main reasons for halitosis is not properly taking care of your smile. Though we have been taught to brush and floss our teeth every day since we were little, many people may underestimate the true importance of doing so. When the bacteria in your mouth are able to remain stagnant and idle, they are left to multiply and take over your smile, ergo affecting the scent of your breath. By practicing proper oral care routines on a daily basis, you are able to eliminate a lot of the bacteria in your mouth, giving you a better chance of having fresh breath.

Another thing that you can do in order to keep your halitosis in check is visiting our office every six months for your dental checkup. By doing this, Dr. Giamberardino is able to look for any early signs of decay and other problems, allowing you to have a healthy smile which results in fresher breath. An antibacterial mouthwash is a wonderful way to kill the remaining bacteria in your smile, and getting one in a certain taste like spearmint or peppermint is sure to linger on your breath. If you are unsure if you are living with halitosis, a couple of signs are a constant bad taste you cannot get rid of and ongoing dry mouth. If you feel as though you are living with halitosis, keep these few tips in mind, and you are sure to be on your way to fresher breath.

Shine Bright with Teeth Whitening

August 20, 2014

178597379Having a bright, dazzling smile is something that many people strive for. Over the years, normal wear and tear on our smiles plays a role in diminishing your smile’s luminescence. There are many people that consider a smile to be a first impression, and when you are not completely confident in your smile, it can have negative effects on the way you view yourself and the way you interact with others. If you feel as though you have to go through life having a dull smile, your worries can be put to rest because Dr. Anthony Giamberardino is able to give you the radiant smile you have always wanted using teeth whitening.

There are many reasons why a smile’s brightness could diminish over time. Certain medications, coffee, tea, wine, using tobacco-based products, and even genetics all play a role. If you have tried over the counter whitening products, you may have found that you get no change in your smile, or results that do not last. Dr. Giamberardino wants his patients to feel proud of their smile, and offering professional teeth whitening is definitely a way to accomplish that.

We offer a couple of options for our patients who wish to whiten their smiles. The first is at-home whitening. With this form of whitening, we will make impressions of your smile and have custom whitening trays made just for you. By doing this, we can ensure your results will be amazing. We will also be able to provide you with professional-grade whitening gel. All you have to do is fill the trays with the whitening gel, and wear them for an allotted amount of time each day. Over the course of one to two weeks, you will see the full, beautiful results!

Another option is porcelain veneers for those who find that bleaching their smiles do not deliver the results they want. Porcelain veneers are stain resistant, ensuring your smile is brilliant at all times. Also, porcelain veneers are able to cover any chips, misalignments, and cracks in your smile! If you would like to know how Dr. Giamberardino is able to make your smile shine again with teeth whitening, contact our office today!

What Kind of Teeth Do You Have?

August 6, 2014

103311379Being well informed with anything in life is always beneficial. Whether you are doing research for an essay or looking at the pros and cons of a car you are wanting to buy, information is power when making decisions and knowing how certain things work. The same goes for your smile! Many people do not know the types of teeth they have or their functions, forgetting the significant role they play in our smiles. Dr. Anthony Giamberardino wants his patients to be as well-informed as possible when it comes to their smile, even when it comes to the functions of their teeth.

One type of tooth that you have are your incisors. They are the eight teeth that are toward the front and center of your mouth, and you use them when you take a bite of food. Your canines make their appearance between sixteen and twenty months of age. Because they are the sharpest teeth in your smile, they are usually used to tear your food apart to make consumption easier.

Our premolars are responsible for chewing and grinding our food, and you have four on either side of your mouth. The premolars typically appear when you are around the ages of ten and eleven. The types of teeth that appear between twelve and fifteen months of age are our molars, and those are also used for chewing and grinding our food. Our wisdom teeth, also known as our third molars, are the last to develop, showing up around eighteen to twenty years of age. Some never develop their wisdom teeth, which is beneficial to their overall smile because it eliminates crowding.

Being informed on your teeth and their role in your smile are excellent in realizing the true power of your smile and appreciating all of the hard work they do!

Crowns Made Easy Thanks To CEREC

July 22, 2014

shutterstock_153698357There is no doubt that we live in an era where we want things done as quickly and as simply as possible. It seems as though no matter what it is, many people want to accomplish tasks with as little complication and in the shortest amount of time. In the world of dentistry, it is no different. Many people would like a quick fix to their smile, whether it is whitening their teeth, straightening them, or even getting a routine cleaning done. Luckily, one thing that Dr. Anthony Giamberardino can give you quickly and easily is a new crown! With the help of CEREC, we are able to give our patients reliable, beautiful crowns all in a single appointment.

The process of getting your new crown starts by preparing your natural tooth. A scanner then examines your prepared tooth, as well as the surrounding area, and sends the information it has accumulated to a computer. Once the computer interprets the information, it displays a picture of your new crown. The computer communicates with our in-office milling machine, and it goes to work. Your CEREC crown is then etched from a single porcelain block, the porcelain matching your tooth color exactly. The machine makes your crown in between 10 to 20 minutes, and once your crown is finished, it is made permanent onto your prepared tooth. After everything is finished, you are left with a beautifully restored smile you can be proud of.

One of the advantages of CEREC is that the crown is metal and mercury free, giving you a natural look to your smile. With metal fillings, the toxins in the metal can spread throughout your entire body, which is never a good thing to have happen. Another benefit to CEREC crowns is that deliver more durability than traditional crowns, making them perfect for teeth located in the back of the mouth. No impressions are needed for CEREC crowns, getting rid of the mess and discomfort normally associated with having to have a crown made. If you feel as though Dr. Giamberardino and CEREC are able to benefit you and your smile, make an appointment with our office today, and we’d love to help!

Which Floss Is Best For You?

July 8, 2014

shutterstock_144914185Living in the age that we do, there is no doubt we are given countless options for nearly anything. From cereal to hair brushes, we are given a limitless amount of options to choose from, and it can often times be overwhelming. Surprisingly, the same can be said for oral care products. There are so many types of mouthwashes and toothbrushes and toothpastes, finding the right one for you can be daunting. In regards to floss, there are many types and kinds out there, and it is important to know which ones are best for you and your lifestyle.

Although many people may not know this, flossing is an extremely important aspect in our daily oral care routine. Flossing daily can add six years on to your life, as well as reduce your chances of heart disease, periodontal (gum) disease, diabetes, respiratory problems, and so much more. Plus, with regular flossing and brushing combined, it increases your chances of having a healthy, beautiful smile, and will definitely end up saving you money down the road.

If you care curious as to how electric and standard flossing tools stand up to each other, research has found that electric flossing remove the most plaque removed after one use, though both standard and electric flossing are extremely effective. Both standard and electric flossing is safe, having no issues to the hard or soft tissues in your mouth. One of the benefits to electric flossing, however, is for older adults who have trouble handling traditional floss. Also, with the technological age we live in, older kids and teens may gravitate toward electric flossing because they think it is more fun than traditional flossing.

The most important thing to keep in mind when picking out the right flossing tool is knowing that one flossing type does not fit everyone. Everyone is different, so everyone requires a different type of flossing technique and routine. Making sure you have the right floss is half of the battle in ensuring you will be excellent oral health.

Have A Seamless Smile with Tooth-Colored Fillings

June 17, 2014

shutterstock_171073526Now that summer is here, people want to make the most out of their summer vacation! Trips to the beach and laying out at the pool, or even a family backyard barbeque, there is no doubt you are going to be smiling, laughing, and having a wonderful time. Unfortunately, if you are insecure with your smile, the smiling and laughing may be more difficult for you. If you have metal fillings that put a rain cloud over your smile, Let Dr. Anthony Giamberardino give you the natural smile you have been wanting with tooth-colored fillings!

When we address a cavity or any other procedure, Dr. Giamberardino uses tooth-colored fillings to make your smile complete. We are able to make the filling match your tooth color exactly, that way the filling is able to blend in seamlessly with your natural smile. Metal fillings, also known as amalgam fillings, are overtly obvious in your smile as well as being unhealthy for the rest of your body. Over time, the metal courses throughout your body, toxins and all. With tooth-colored fillings, you are able to enjoy a natural smile while also enjoying a healthier body.

One benefit to tooth-colored fillings is that you are able to keep much more of your natural, original tooth structure. With this, your smile is not only more natural looking, but more natural all together. Amalgam fillings have been known to be the cause of breaks and cracks in the tooth, which only leads you into a world of discomfort and more money being spent. If you are curious about how tooth-colored fillings can give you a perfect smile, contact our office, and we will be more than happy to help!

Don’t Forget Your Tongue!

June 3, 2014

shutterstock_103418330A lot of people may not know this, but cleaning your tongue daily is just as important as brushing and flossing your teeth! Often left to fall to the wayside, the tongue holds a lot of bacteria that can cause many effects on your body, many of which you may not be aware of. Not to be taken lightly, cleaning your tongue on a daily basis can hold many benefits for your smile and the rest of your body, and Dr. Anthony Giamberardino wants you to be as informed as possible regarding proper oral care!

One of the prominent reasons to clean your tongue is to be able to have fresher breath.  There are millions upon millions of bacteria that thrive on your tongue and, eventually, through your saliva, make their way throughout the rest of your mouth, body, and gums. Research shows that not cleaning your tongue can account for 80 to 95% of halitosis (bad breath) cases. Another reason to clean your tongue daily is that you will be able to taste your foods and drinks better. Without all of the bacteria masking the taste of your food, you will be able to fully enjoy and relish every bite and sip you take!

An excellent reason to clean your tongue daily is to prevent the possibility of cardiovascular problems, infertility in men, and increased risk of diabetes, among others. Your mouth is the gateway to the rest of your body, and when it is not taken care of, it can have severe side effects. The bacteria that manifest on your tongue have also been linked to periodontal (gum) problems, such as tooth decay, recession of the gums, and tooth loss. In order to truly reap the benefits of having a beautiful, healthy smile, make an effort to clean your tongue every day, and you will not be let down!
